Books and Writing
Although I used to write sappy poems in junior high that my friends taped to the walls in the hallways of Charles Street School, I didn’t really catch the writing bug until my kids were little.
While I was pregnant and on bed rest with my second child (hi, Ali!), my husband brought a rotating crate of books next to the sofa for me to read to my son (hi, Nick!) while he went to work. Fortunately (or unfortunately), my not-yet-two-year-old could work the VCR. So, in between Barney and The Lion King on a nearly endless loop for four weeks (I know), we read books. Lots of them.
I discovered my love for the rhythm of words, colorful pictures, and imaginative storytelling. At least my son would listen to me read more than two different stories. And I was hooked.
Blog Writing
Even before I had a publishing business, The Happy Self-Publisher, or any books to my name, I had a blog. It started as The Glass Half Full, a nod to my youthful optimism. But once I started my business, it morphed and grew to about 250 blog posts, mostly about writing, publishing, and marketing books. While I had a few guest bloggers along the way, the words come from toiling away, week after week, for over 10 years. You can read my blog here.
